A police probe has been launched after a Scots mum was badly beaten during an unprovoked attack in Glasgow.

The victim’s daughter, Megan Wright, shared a picture of her mother Andrea’s shocking facial injuries following the assault on Haywood Street.

The 40-year-old was targeted at around 7.55pm on Sunday and was left covered in blood with painful bruising on her face, Glasgow Live reports.

The worried daughter issued a social media appeal for witnesses.

She said: “If anyone was around Haywood Street in Glasgow on Sunday and has any information on who done this to my mentally ill mum please message me."

Police Scotland confirmed they are also investigating the sickening attack.

A spokesperson said: “Around 7.55pm on Sunday, 8 November, 2020, we received a report that a 40-year-old woman had been seriously assaulted in the Haywood Street area of Glasgow.

“The woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment to facial injuries sustained. Enquiries are ongoing."
