Scots mum in emotional warning as schoolboy son forced to self-harm after vile online 'groomer' threatens to hurt family

A Scots mum has spoken of her anguish after her schoolboy son was forced into harming himself after evil blackmailers threatened to kill her.

Rocky Gyoury was left terrified after being tricked by an online account with the name 'Jonathon' who demanded he send ‘proof’ of his injuries.

The 'groomer' asked the 11-year-old on Instagram to ‘play a game’ before things took a more sinister turn.

They then sent a link which revealed Rocky's own home address, internet service provider, IP address, and computer system.

The scared youngster was instructed to self-harm or they would come to his home and hurt his family.

Mum Victoria McLeish, from Hamilton but who has lived in Spain for the past 20 years, was left heartbroken when she found out.

The 45-year-old said: “It has been a nightmare, I was devastated.

“He injured himself a number of times because he was so scared they were coming to our house to kill me and hurt him.

“I just couldn’t believe it when I saw his injuries, I never thought in a million years my son would do anything like that.

“At first he wouldn’t tell me what happened and I was furious. I just couldn't understand it.

“Then when we went to the beach later on in the day he told me what happened. I felt awful.

“He had been up all night waiting for these people to show up he was so scared.

"There are some really disgusting human beings out there."

Victoria, who owns a tattoo shop in Albir just outside of Benidorm, was left in tears over the disturbing incident.

She believes the 'game' is called the Blue Whale challenge, which encourages youngsters to complete a series of challenges over 50 days, ranging from waking up in the night to self harm.

On the final day of the sick challenge, they are then instructed by their 'masters' to commit suicide.

Police confessed to Victoria that tracking down the cyber bullies would be very difficult.

Now she is warning other parents to be alert after she was left shattered by the discovery.

The mum of one added: “I can't believe it happened to us.

"You read about these things but you never think your child will be targeted.

“My son sits up on his computer for hours and hours and I never thought twice about it.

“We have been in lockdown for weeks and that’s all he's done. I never thought he would be in danger.

“Parents need to know these people are out there asking their kids for pictures of them to self-harm.

“Rocky's wounds are healing now and he feels he can sleep in his own bed again.

“My son doesn't have Instagram or Fortnite or any of that anymore, we have been going swimming and cycling instead.”
