Scots mum given months to live after shock cancer diagnosis marries love of her life in dream wedding

A Scots mum with terminal cancer has celebrated her dream rainbow wedding to the love of her life.

Amanda Buchan married her beloved partner Daniel Bullock in a colourful ceremony last week as the pair hoped to make everlasting memories.

The Aberdeen mum was given months to live just 17 days after she received the all clear from triple negative breast cancer.

She underwent six gruelling sessions of chemotherapy after her diagnosis in October 2020, and tragically lost her dad to the disease halfway through her treatment.

She also had part of her breast removed and four lymph nodes from her armpit where the cancer had spread.

But the 39-year-old's life was turned upside down when she suffered a severe seizure just hours after a lunch to celebrate being cancer free.

A scan revealed the cancer had spread to her brain and she was given between three and six months to live.

We previously told of how Amanda was desperate to make memories with son Krisstoffer, 18, and then fiance Daniel, 29, after her devastating diagnosis at the end of May.

The magical ceremony saw a piper play outside of the hotel as a rainbow balloon arch marked the entrance to the room and chairs were decorated with colourful ribbons.

Amanda told the Record: "The wedding was absolutely amazing - it was above and beyond all I ever expected.

"The theme was rainbow for a little bit of hope and my dress was red with a rainbow going through it.

"Seeing everyone when you enter the room, you feel the love right away and then seeing Dan at the bottom just blew me away.

"It was out of the world.

"My son gave me away and he walked me down the aisle - he blew everyone away with his speech."

The pair tied the knot on June 25 at the Palm Court Hotel and then had their photos taken with rainbow and glitter cannons at Johnstone Gardens with a viking themed wedding cake.

Colour was a key aspect of the wedding and Amanda celebrated in a studded denim jacket, a rainbow bouquet and pair of converse.

The happy couple are set to go on a "mini moon" to Piperdam this Friday for the weekend thanks to Amanda's cancer nurse Vikki Bone setting it up with Memory Makers.

Amanda added: "The news completely shocked us being just 17 days cancer free.

"I want to say thank you to everyone for making the wedding so special and I'm so proud of everyone who came together as a community to help us get the day we deserved.

"The wedding was very, very us. I'm still on a high."
