A Scots mum who was found dead in a wheelie bin had suffered horrific abuse at the hands of an ex who pushed her out a fourth-storey window.

Nicola Stevenson, 39, from Edinburgh , was discovered with a fatal head wound inside a green household bin in Sussex.

Detectives said the bin could have been lying in the undergrowth for two weeks.

The mum-of-two is understood to be a recovering cancer patient

Nicola had previously told how she had broken her back after she was thrown from the fourth floor window of an apartment by an ex.

A post mortem established the Nicola Stevenson died following blunt force trauma to the head (Facebook)

The shocking incident in 2001 was followed by fourteen miscarriages as she suffered a decade of agony.

She is understood she was registered as disabled before learning to walk again.

Her final Facebook post was made on October 9.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in Lewes, Sussex, on Thursday morning in connection with her death.

A second man, 37, was also arrested in connection with her death.

Nicola's body was found by a dog walker at the recreation ground off Landport Road in Lewes, East Sussex at 12.30pm on Wednesday (Google)

Both men remain in custody.

Forensic teams have sealed off the area where her body was discovered and her home as investigations continue.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Friday of Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team said: "Our thoughts at this time are with Nicola's family and friends and we are determined to seek justice for them.

"Nicola died following a significant blow to the head.

"Her body had been placed in the wheelie bin and dumped in the undergrowth and we want to establish when that happened and when she was last seen alive.

"We know that the bin was probably there on November 1 and we are now trying to establish when Nicola was last seen alive.

"We would still welcome any more information around any aspect of the investigation, but I am really interested to hear from anyone who saw her after around the first week of October."
