A Scots woman has called out mindless vandals after her car was smashed outside her home at the weekend.
Karen Laidlaw woke on Sunday morning to find that her car, as well as her partners, had been targeted by vandals.
The 40-year-old accountant described her street in Hawick as a "nice and quiet area" as she has been left shaken by the incident.
Karen said: "I've been here five years and nothing like this has ever happened.
"It is really quite scary.
"Luckily my partner was at home with me but I have a little girl and she's six. If it was just me and her at home I'd be terrified.
"I just want people to be aware and be on the look out. Obviously if anyone has information then that is a bonus.
"It's a really quiet street and we all know each other. We don't really get many people up here as we're at the top of a hill and it's a dead end.
"People keep asking if anyone might have something against us but no one does that we know of.
"It's that kind of street where everyone knows everyone.
"I've got two elderly neighbours as well so they're quite worried about it."
Karen and her partner last seen their cars around 8pm on Saturday night and discovered they had been vandalised after 8am the next morning.
They believe a stone was used to scratch one of the cars before it was thrown through the window of the other car.
The culprit smashed one of the car windows and made a deep scratch in the other.
Karen warned that anyone anywhere could be targeted and now feels less safe at home after the incident.
Police Scotland has been contacted by the Daily Record for comment.
