Scots mum constantly mistaken for daughter's sister because of youthful looks

Strangers are convinced that this glamorous mum-of-eight is her daughters' sister because of her youthful looks.

Louise Young, 45, from Edinburgh, Scotland, is a busy and devoted mum of eight daughters, but thanks to her age-defying looks and glamorous style, people think she is another sister of her three eldest daughters.

As well as being shocked to find out that she is, in fact, their mum, Louise says that people are even more dismay when they discover she has had eight kids.

Louise is mum to Anita, 23, Elizabeth, 21, Sinead, 20, Tiger Lily, 13, Daisy, 11, Betty, eight, Louise, seven, and Jeanie, four.

She said: "I am constantly asked how I look so young and well after having eight children. I don't have any revolutionary beauty secrets, I think it is just down to having good genes.

"When I go to the gym, shopping, or get dressed up to go out with my three eldest daughters, people can't believe it when they find out that they are actually my daughters!

"It comes as even more of a shock when I tell people that I have another five daughters and I am a mum-of-eight.

"They don't think I look old enough to have had eight children.

"It is very flattering and I take it as a compliment because even though I am constantly on the go and busy with all of the kids, it's nice to know that I don't look my age.

"I've always been into fashion, beauty and taking care of myself, but I do think it is mainly down to my good family genes."

Louise loves beauty treatments such as getting her eyelashes and nails done and has her own sunbed to give herself a healthy glow.

She also likes to keep fit and healthy by going to the gym and working out with her three eldest daughters, Anita, Elizabeth and Sinead, four times a week.

Louise, a full-time mum, said: "People call me superwoman for being a mum of eight girls and managing to look great.

"I'm constantly running about after the kids.

"I have two washing machines and two dryers which are just constantly on the go. I feel like I have never-ending piles of washing to get through and I'm always cooking for them.

"There is always a pot of food cooking away in the kitchen.

"I love to get glammed up but I live in my gym kit day today while looking after the kids and the house.

"I always wanted to have a big family and I absolutely love spending time with my husband and daughters.

"I wouldn't change it for the world! It's such good fun having so many girls too, because I have always been into fashion, hair and makeup, and my girls are all the same.

"When they were younger they would walk around in my high heels, and the youngest girls do that too now with their older sisters.

"We all have a great bond."

Louise has been a fashion icon to her daughters ever since they can remember and they've always looked up to her glamorous ways.

Her eldest daughters are as glamorous as she is, Elizabeth, one of Louise's daughters, says that her mum is so fashionable that she is always dipping into her wardrobe to borrow clothes, shoes and accessories.

Elizabeth added: "My sisters and I definitely get our style from our mum.

"She's our inspiration. I wear my mum's clothes and shoes all of the time. It's great because it's like having two wardrobes to choose from rather than just one.

"My mum loves sharing with us and finds it flattering that she is the same clothes size as us too!

"People always ask her how she looks so amazing after eight kids, but it just comes naturally to her.

"We love spending time together. We usually go to the gym in the morning and then get some breakfast.

"We love going shopping and out for meals together too.

"She is an amazing and fun mum, and we can go to her with anything as a friend too. She is so supportive and always pushes us to achieve our dreams.

"She has always been so good at doing her hair and makeup, but my sisters and I also help to keep her up to date with trends such as contouring and backcombing.

"And we all share fashion advice. I have looked up to my mum for as long as I can remember and I have always admired her style.

"She helps me put my outfits together and she even designed my wedding dress for me which was a massive thing. I know she would think of something amazing and it was perfect!"
