Scots mum battling Covid 'astonished' after home delivery food stolen from doorstep

A Scots mum battling Covid was left stunned after her food delivery was ‘stolen’ from her doorstep.

Elaine Kerr, from Howden, tested positive for the deadly virus last week as infections continue to soar across Scotland.

The 51-year-old breast cancer survivor, who has a weakened immune system, has been in self-isolation at home with her son.

Unable to go to the shops, she had ordered food for delivery from meal kit retailer Gousto, reports Edinburgh Live.

The meals were dropped off outside her home while she was asleep but the package was gone when she went to retrieve it.

Elaine believes that both her food and another package she ordered were snatched from her doorstep.

She told Edinburgh Live: “I got a message from Gousto to say my package has been delivered so I went to get it but it wasn’t there.

“I contacted gusto to say my package hasn’t been delivered and they sent me an image of it outside my house, so I went to check with neighbours.

“One of my neighbours said she had seen it before she went out to go and get her grandchild, but when she came back it was gone.

“Another neighbour said that her brother had seen it outside my house.”

Elaine also received a notification from Yodel to say that a separate parcel she had ordered had also been delivered that day - but this package also went missing.

The furious mum will be refunded for the box but has shared her story in the hope that the thief thinks twice before they strike again.

“We were shielding and self-isolating and we weren’t well and we tried to to do the best thing to get food so that we could eat.

“I thought a nice Gousto box that's got everything in it and it gets stolen and we were left with no food in the house.

“It’s astonishing that despite everything we are going through as a society at the moment, someone would still steal your food and I just thought if I share my story hopefully the person who did it will feel an ounce of guilt", she said.
