Scots mum warns breastfeeding shamers 'I will not cover up' and backs TV star Lucy Mecklenburgh

A Scots mum has back TV star Lucy Mecklenburgh in a row sparked by breastfeeding shamers.

Celebrity mum Lucy has hit out at people who gave her "disgusting" glances and made degrading comments while she fed her son outside of her home - warning them "I will never cover up".

The former TOWIE star is being supported by Scots mummy blogger and breastfeeding campaigner Emma O'Donnell, 33, who made headlines last month after TikTok banned her for posting a video of her breastfeeding her son, Harry.

Taking to the social media site to share her shocking experiences, former reality star Lucy called for an end the stigma around breastfeeding.

The 29-year-old shared a sweet picture while feeding son Roman and told her followers she was sick of feeling judged for doing what comes natural.

She said: “I’ve been getting a few looks lately while breast feeding in public.

“Hearing comments like ‘why wouldn’t she use a Muslin’ or an awkward glance of disgust.

“I think maybe as Roman is quite big for his age wearing size 9-12month clothes some people think it’s unnecessary to breastfeed a baby of that age.”

Defiant Lucy told her fans that she will never, ever, cover her baby with a Muslin cloth while feeding.

“I will not cover Roman with a Muslin the same as u won’t eat your pizza with a blanket over your head.

“I will not hide away or be made to feel ashamed or embarrassed for feeding my baby.”

Applauding her speaking out, Scots mum-of-three Emma, from Glasgow, backed Lucy, saying: "Love this hunni.

"We really need to normalise the normal! I have a petition set up in my bio after tiktok took down a video. You couldn't see anything and yet it was labeled sexual! So much misogyny still in the world... Keep doing you."

The TV star and proud mum welcomed baby Roman with her Coronation Street fiancé Ryan Thomas earlier this year and has been sharing her experiences of being a new mum on her Instagram page.

Her post was met with praise and admiration from adoring fans who labelled her "the perfect example of a good mother".

Lucy continued her post by listing off the positive aspects of breastfeeding.

She wrote: “Breastfeeding lowers your risk of: breast cancer, ovarian cancer, osteoporosis (weak bones), cardiovascular disease and obesity.

"Our bodies are super clever and have made it possible for our babies to safely explore their surroundings with all their senses, yet still be protected whilst they grow and taste almost everything!"
