Scots mum and four kids pulled from car crash wreckage by passing hero

Four children and a woman were pulled from the wreckage of a car crash after a passing stranger stopped and sprung into action.

Emergency services raced to the incident on High Maybole Road, Ayr, around 3.30pm on Tuesday after one man rescued the five occupants of the car.

As the vehicle had flipped during the freak accident the man managed to climb on top of the car and pull the children and their mum from the wreckage.

Luckily no-one sustained serious injuries in the collision but the mum was taken to hospital to be checked over.

She has since posted on social media thanking the man who rescued her family and another two women who stopped to help.

The post said: "I flipped my car on the back road between Ayr and Maybole yesterday around 3.30.

"There was a guy who climbed up onto my car and pulled the 4 children and me from wreckage.

"There was a lady who took the kids into her car while we waited for police and ambulance and there was another lady called Shona who never left my side.

"I just want to thank them for stopping to help. I really appreciated it. They were amazing x"

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 3.30pm on Tuesday, 9 November, officers were called to a report of a road crash involving one car on High Maybole Road.

"Emergency services attended and one woman driver taken to hospital to be checked over."
