Scots mortuary in sick New Year break-in as thugs raid funeral directors in 'disgusting crime'

A Scots funeral director has been left disgusted after sick thugs broke into a mortuary on New Year 's Day.

Colin Sneddon Funeral Directors in Cowdenbeath, Fife, was broken into at around 12.05am, triggering the alarm 20 seconds later.

A neighbour of the Station Road business heard the commotion and phoned the police, with officers arriving at 12.15am on Saturday morning.

The crooks who targeted the funeral parlour vandalised inside the business during the break-in, including ripping off the door to the mortuary.

Owner Colin Sneddon, 48, who opened the funeral directors in February, 2020, said he was 'disgusted' by the incident.

He said: "I'm astounded and absolutely disgusted.

"I can't believe that someone would stoop that low to break into a mortuary.

"Thankfully, nobodies loved ones were inside and nothing was stolen."

The neighbour who overheard the break-in claims to have witnessed two men fleeing in a blue car after the incident.

The mortuary door will have to be replaced (Fife Jammer Locations)

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
