Scots model joins Love Island 2023 lineup as contestants announced

A Scots model has been announced as part of the new crop of contestants heading into the Love Island villa.

Ella Thomas, 23, is one of the hopefuls who will be seeking romance in the swanky Mallorcan pad this summer, with the series set to kick off next Monday, June 5.

The Glasgow stunner is no stranger to the limelight, having already bagged a part as an extra in World War Z when the Hollywood blockbuster starring Brad Pitt was filmed in Scotland's biggest city back in 2011.

She's also featured in a Headie One and Burna Burna Boy music video and was named Female Model of the Year at the Scottish media awards in October 2022.

And she's pretty confident she can bag a leading love interest on Love Island, telling ITV producers: "I'm the whole package, I know what I want in life and I’ve got a big heart."

Ella is tipped for success on the ITV2 reality dating show, with a source telling the Sun: "Ella is breathtaking to look at - it’s not hard to see why she’s a top model in her field.

“Bosses have swayed towards more regular girl and boy next door hotties in recent years but casting Ella marks a step change.

“Even better, though, she has the chat to match.

“Bosses are really confident Scottish firecracker Ella is going to make a splash this series.”

And it sounds like she's certainly set to make a splash when the show kicks off, as Ella added when asked what the Love Islanders should know about her: "I’d let the boys know that I’m wifey material so don’t play with me!"

Love Island starts Monday, June 5 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
