Scottish women desire sex just before they go to sleep, whereas men feel most frisky first thing in the morning, according to a new survey.
New data suggests that sex is one of the first things a man thinks about immediately after waking up - and their optimum time is 7.30am.
The peak time for female passion is 10pm as they prepare to go to bed.
The almost 15-hour difference in the best times for sex can create tensions between partners - with 64% of women and 38% of men saying they sometimes do it when they don’t feel like it.
The results are revealed in a survey of 2,000 people, split evenly between the sexes, by IllicitEncounters.com, Scotland’s leading affairs site.
The results also found that over half of both women and men said their sex drive is different to their partners - with 53 per cent of women and 51 per cent of men admitting that their sex drive differs from that of their other halves.
One of the key differences was the time frames in which women wanted to be passionate in comparison to men.
Nearly one third of men felt most frisky between 6am and 9am, where only around 12 per cent of women felt the same during those times.
On the other hand, desire levels for women rise throughout the day and reach their peak between 9pm and midnight.
The survey also suggested that men's sex drive was more consistent than women's with 74 per cent of men saying their sex drive was pretty constant. Only 37 per cent of women agreed.
IllicitEncounters.com sex and relationship expert Jessica Leoni said: “This new research shows that there are big differences in sex o’clock between the sexes in Scotland.
“Men are ready for sex before breakfast, whereas women most want passion last thing at night.
“This creates big problems for some couples who get out of the habit of having sex regularly and drift apart.
“A mismatched sex drive is the biggest single factor in unhappy spouses starting an affair.
“There is an attitude: ‘Well, if I cannot get sex at home, I will find it elsewhere.’”
