Scots man thanks ambulance crew who saved his life after 'large heart attack'

A Scots man has thanked the ambulance crew who saved his life after he had a “large heart attack.”

Scott Wilson said there was “faultless execution” by the staff who attended to him when they arrived at the scene at 12.17am on Sunday September 26 - within five minutes of being called.

The 56-year-old from Glasgow, who volunteers with Lanarkshire-based blood group Lifesavers Scotland, is now back home and recovering.

He has extended his thanks to paramedic Paul Stewart and technician Jacquelyn Donald based at Glasgow South Station.

Scott said: “I had a large heart attack that would have killed most people - and your crew knew it.

“I cannot put into words my gratitude for their dedication and faultless execution of getting me diagnosed on my floor. Their actions saved my life.”

After the crew arrived, they quickly transported him to Golden Jubilee Hospital.

While on the way there, one of them liaised with the hospital to ensure they were prepped ahead of Scott's arrival.

He noted: “In this case, they didn’t just get me there, they held my life in their hands as if it were their own.

“This was as high pressure as it gets for them both and they were calm under pressure, made the decisions and worked as a team to get me there alive.”

Scott said he was recovering well at home now and said he was grateful for the crew handing his “life back to me".

He added: “All my doctors commented that people normally don’t survive such a big attack.

"The reason I did, was your crew, nothing else.”
