Scots man sailing on 5,000 mile solo trip missing off the coast of Egypt

A Scots grandad sailing on epic 5,000-mile solo trip is missing off the coast of Egypt .

Colin Finnie's empty yacht Simba was discovered crashed on a reef on December 13 after the 67-year-old from Helensburgh , Argyll, picked it up in Australia.

SV SIMBA was discovered on a passage to Port Ghalib, located in  Marsa Alam  along the Southern Red Sea Coral Coast of Egypt at around 2pm.

The last known contact with former hotelier Colin was on Saturday, December 7 when he was around 300 miles from his destination of Port Ghalib, Egypt.

Colin's worried wife wrote on Facebook: “He was in storms and low on fuel.”

The Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing while sailing in the Red Sea and are in contact with Egyptian authorities.”
