Scots left baffled by police force's bizarre Facebook joke

Flummoxed Scots were left scratching their heads after a bizarre post appeared on a Police Scotland Facebook page.

The North East Police Division posted an image of two police cars with an empty parking space in between.

The picture was accompanied by a post saying: "I’ve ta’en the bold move tae show you our unmarked car (plates blacked out for obvious reasons)"

As both cars shown in the picture are marked police cars, followers were left rather confused.

Helena Gray wrote: "This took me a good 5 minutes."

Paisley Coletta agreed, commenting:  "Not 100% sure I get it."

Tim O'keefe replied: "Translation for the rest of the uk pls?"

On closer inspection, however, the 'blacked out number plate' mentioned in the post can be seen on the empty space.

Ah! So those cheeky coppers are using an empty space to highlight that their unmarked cars blend in so well they are 'invisible'.

Quite a number of followers enjoyed the joke and the post has been shared nearly 300 times, clocking up almost 400 likes.

Among those enjoying the joke was Steven Elliot who commented: "Brilliant. Proof that despite everything that gets flung at them, the Police still have a good sense of humour!"

Evelina Novakova joked: "Aberdeen police at it again!"

Dan Murphy agreed: "Scottish Police with a sense of humour. I love it."
