Scots lad attack at ATM in Ibiza still in coma as loved ones raise almost £32K in just four days

Friends and family of a Scots man fighting for his life in coma in Ibiza have raised almost £32,000 to bring him home.

Gavin Roberton, 26, was at a cashline in San Antonio when a male approached him from behind and punched him in the side of the head before running off last Tuesday evening.

The Stewarton , East Ayrshire lad sustained a fractured skull, as well as bleeding and bruising on his brain.

Gavin, who was on a stag do with a group of pals at the time, was rushed to a nearby hospital and has been in a coma since.

Since the shocking attack on the Spanish island, loved ones have been fundraising to raise money to bring him home to Scotland.

In just four days they have raised £31,650.

Electrician Gavin's mum Kirsty McMaster, who flew to Ibiza after the attack, told the Daily Record on Friday only time will tell if her boy will pull through.

She said: 'We're all heartbroken and are just hoping for the best possible outcome. At the moment we're taking every day as it comes."

Kirsty said he is still in a coma and described his condition as stable.

NHS worker Kirsty says she has been overwhelmed by the amount raised.

She added: "It's amazing. His friends are all rallying round too with other fundraising efforts.

"I'd like thank everyone who has already donated. We have been overwhelmed with the support and well-wishes."
