A Scots labourer who used an app and Bitcoin to buy a Glock pistol has been jailed for more than six years.
Jack Whittle, 25, bought the firearm and 150 rounds of ammunition online.
Whittle made contact using Telegram with a seller in the US but a special agent intercepted the gun in Buffalo, New York.
The UK’s National Crime Agency then created a placebo package to be sent to Whittle’s home in Buckhaven, Fife.
Police swooped after it was delivered on February 2.
Whittle pled guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh to breaching firearms laws and being involved in the supply of cocaine and ecstasy.
Judge Lady Poole jailed him for five years for possessing the gun and 16 months for drug dealing.
