Scots kids recreate amazing Royal Highland Show in back garden

A pair of disappointed Scots kids have recreated the Royal Highland Show using their favourite toys after their annual trip was cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Ailie and Hamish Muirhead were both devastated when they discovered that the Edinburgh show was the latest event to fall to the lockdown restrictions.

The pair spent six hours making their own version of the Royal Highland Show in their back garden (PA)

The event's cancellation marked the first time they have missed it in a number of years.

Ailie, 12 and eight-year-old Hamish decided to host their own version of the 'firm family favourite' using Lego and Playmobil.

Mum, Lorna Muirhead, spent six hours helping her children recreate the show in their back garden in central Scotland.

Toilet roll in addition to other bits and bobs were all used for the makeshift set (PA)

The 44-year-old said: “The children were playing with their toys, and it started with the ponies in the stables, then we were using their dad's old farm toys.

"Then we thought, 'why don't we create the whole Highland Show?

"Since it's not running this year, why don't we have it in our back garden?”

Old toilet roll holders, cereal boxes and other 'bits and pieces' were also used to make the finished version.

Ailie and Hamish are both members of a local pony club and take part in games.

Big sister, Ailie was hopeful of qualifying this year to compete at the Royal Highland Show.
