Scots kids in lockdown can access hundreds of free audio books read by celebrities

Scots kids in coronavirus lockdown can get access to a whole host of audio books read by famous voices, for free.

More than 200 child-friendly books are now accessible to children thanks to Amazon's app Audible - for the entire duration of UK school closures.

The material is full length books which are read by some of the world's most familiar voices, including Scarlett Johanssen who reads Alice in Wonderland, Thandie Newton, who offers up Jane Ayre and Rachel McAdams who reads Anne of Green Gables.

Audio books are a great way of holding children's attention and giving their eyes a break from device screens.

A post on the Audible Facebook page says the content has been offered free to kids and parents to 'make life a little easier'.

It said: "With school closures and social distancing affecting us all, we’ve created something in the hope that it makes your life a little easier. "Audible Stories - 100s of kids’ audiobooks for free. Just click, stream and listen."

"We wish you and your loved-ones good health and we hope that listening to a good story will offer some respite during these unsettling times."

Audible is owned by tech-giant Amazon who are also giving away a month's free content for kids. The content, including television shows, movies, games and apps can be downloaded on to Amazon tablets.

The free trial of the Amazon Kids Unlimited Enertainment can be accessed for free for a full month and after the trial is up parents can expect to pay £1.99 per month or cancel at the end of the free trial.
