Scots jewellery firm adds Jacobite flower selection to its Outlander range

A Scottish jewellery maker has just extended their officially licensed Outlander collection to include a new Jacobite-themed range.

The Jacobite Rose Coin selection from Orkney -based handcrafted silversmiths Aurora pays homage to one of Scotland's most famous flowers.

The little white rose is prevalent in Scotland and is thought to have been the inspiration for the white cockade, an emblem used by the Highland warriors.

Fans of the hit TV show will also recognise it as the symbol of Geillis Duncan's pro-Scottish Society of the White Rose, the group which celebrated and honoured the royal line of the Stuarts.

Hand-crafted using traditional methods and tools each of the silver pieces were designed by Teresa Shearer, it's been officially endorsed by Sony.

The range includes single charm bracelets, cufflinks, stud earrings, and a neck wire, all designed to incorporate the white rose motif.

A spokesperson for the brand said: "We do love Outlander. It really speaks to our romantic Scottish hearts. Diana Gabaldon has drawn on the mystic and drama of our Scottish heritage, and layered it with emotions we can all relate to, whatever our passions.

"We are so pleased to bring you our own officially licenced Outlander collection. Every piece has been designed with all the love and thought you would expect to honour such a magnificent and beloved story as Jamie and Claire’s. Individually handcrafted, rich with symbolism and presented to you with love, to love eternally.

"Next to the thistle, the little white rose (Rosa Spinosissima) is probably Scotland's most emblematic native plant. Roses have a long history of use as emblems and the Jacobites used the little white rose as one of theirs.

"This is most likely the source of the white cockade, a ribbon flower worn by Jacobites to identify themselves to each other."
