A major police investigation into the jail killing was launched by Police Scotland who have now charged two men in connection with the death.

A force spokesperson said: “Two men, aged 50 and 31 years, have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a 30-year-old man following an incident at HMP Glenochil on Saturday, 9 January, 2021.

“The man was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert following the incident but died on Monday, 11 January, 2021.

“Both men are due to appear at Alloa Sheriff Court on Friday, 15 January, 2021. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

The Scottish Prison Service confirmed that a serving prisoner had died in custody.
