Scots in stitches after ‘Harry Potter wannabe’ takes owl for walk in Paisley

Scots were left in stitches after a man took an owl for a walk in Paisley.

A video of the unusual outing was posted on Twitter by Kirsty Mitchell, 22, who spotted the the pair from her car.

The footage showed a man with an adorable white owl casually walking along Glasgow Road on Tuesday at 5pm.

Last month, the same man was spotted on a train from London's Kings X headed to Edinburgh, leaving fellow passengers baffled as the bird perched on his shoulder.

Alongside the footage Kirsty posted: “Paisley, the only acceptable place to take your owl for a walk”.

Speaking to the Daily Record she said: “I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw it. It was so random.

“I just tweeted it for a laugh because I have pals in Paisley, but I’d no idea it would reach so many people.”

The post raked in more than 45 thousand views with Twitter users quick to give their thoughts on the bizarre sighting.

One person said: “I see him all the time takes it to Barshaw and lets it fly about. Wee Harry potter wannabe lol.”

A second person said: “Hogwarts moved to the grammar now?”

A third person said: “I’m jealous. I would love a pet owl while another person added: “The boy isn't giving two hoots.”

The Harry Potter jokes continued with another commenter saying: “Lockdown has been been hard on Harry Potter too!

And one fan simply wrote: “Never change Paisley.”
