Scots identical twin footballers reunited as boss admits he needs boots to tell them apart

Dougie MacDuff admits he’s created double trouble for himself after reuniting identical twins Chris and Shane Jackson at Irvine Vics.

New signing Chris made a dream debut last Saturday, scoring both goals as Vics battled to a 2-2 draw at Lesmahagow.

But boss MacDuff revealed he praised the WRONG brother after the game - and insists he can only tell them apart by the colour of their boots.

MacDuff said: “I’ve known the boys for years and managed them both at Hillwood Boys Club - but I still get them mixed up even now.

“I was giving it ‘well done’ on Saturday thinking I was talking to Chris and got the reply, ‘It’s me, Shane!’

“I need to make sure they wear different boots from now on.”

MacDuff admits he’s delighted to bring 33-year-old Chris on board after a spell at Vale of Leven.

He said: “Chris is a very versatile player who can play in a number of positions.

“He’s a very fit lad with plenty of experience and that’s something we’ve been looking to add to the squad.

“He did well against Lesmahagow and it was a game I was a wee bit disappointed not to win in the end.”

The brothers actually played against each other as recently as October, with Chris coming out on top as Vale of Leven beat Vics 1-0 in the first round of the South Challenge Cup.
