Scots homeowners use hilarious Limmy quote on property listing to see if anyone would spot it

A Scottish couple sparked hilarity after putting up a Limmy quote on their wall when selling their home - to see if anyone would spot it.

Julie and Ryan McKellar, who live in Gourock, wanted to "do something daft" when listing their property for sale.

The couple, who are huge fans of the Scottish comedian, decided to put an iconic line from one of the most famous sketches in Limmy's Show on a light box in the living room.

Eagled eyed social media users spotted the quote - "She turned the weans against us" - and it even caught the attention of Limmy himself.

The couple wanted to see if anyone would spot the quote - and it ended up sparking loads of interest from would-be buyers.

Mum-of-one Julie, 36, told the Record: "We had the light up box for our wedding venue and since then had it up on the wall and we change it just for a laugh.

"We're huge Limmy fans and met him at a couple of gigs, my husband loves him.

"The photographer came to do the photos for the house, so we decided to do something daft and hoped it might spark some interest.

"We ended up getting loads of interest - someone even tagged Limmy on Twitter and he responded.

"But then the sale fell through and since coming back on the market it's picked up loads of interest again."

Julie, who is moving house elsewhere in Gourock with Ryan, 29 and six-month-old daughter Bonnie, joked they had a lot of explaining to do to the new buyer - who ended up being from England.

She said: "The new buyer is from England and we had to explain what on earth the quote meant.

"It's definitely only a certain type of humour that would understand it.

"We also put up a quote from Burnistoun for people viewing the flat.

"Someone people found it hilarious and some didn't know what it was - it's just a bit of a laugh.

"We put funny things on when we have friends coming round and it's a talking point".
