A Scots health board has cancelled all home births in new coronavirus measures.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde says it has suspended all home births for the time being in a bid to "concentrate maternity staff" in hospitals after some are absent due to showing Covid-19 symptoms or are self-isolating.
The Trust said it would be contacting women who already had a home birth booked in, to make other arrangements.
A spokeswoman said: "Regrettably, NHSGGC has taken a decision to suspend all home births.
"This is to allow us to concentrate our maternity staff in our hospitals to cover those who are absent from work because they are either self-isolating or symptomatic."
The spokeswoman added: "Our midwives are personally contacting all women who were booked in to have their baby at home to explain how this will affect them.
" Parentcraft classes have also stopped, but one-to-one help will be given to mums who need this – mostly post-natally.
"The Ready Steady Baby book has a wealth of education to support pregnant women and new mums.
"Online resources are also being looked into to help pregnant women, including those who are booked for a C-section."
"Antenatal visits will continue for women and again, we are exploring use of technology for some consultations.
"Any woman with concerns should speak directly to their named midwife."
It comes as new figures released this afternoon confirm there are 449 cases of coronavirus in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board.
The total figure in Scotland has risen overnight to 1,563.
Meanwhile, the UK coronavirus death toll jumped by 209 in 24 hours from 1,019 to 1,228 on Sunday, March 29.
But it was not all bad news as the infection rate dropped for the second day in a row.
There are now 19,522 confirmed cases nationwide, 2,433 of those are new cases.
