Scots heading abroad in 2020 set to see spending money go further - find out how much more you could get

Scots heading abroad this year could see their spending money stretch up to 20 per cent further than a year ago.

A stronger pound has made many top destinations more affordable, with families going to Turkey seeing the biggest boost, says a Post Office travel money report.

UK tourists buying £500 of holiday money now will get the equivalent of £85 more in Turkish lira.

Those off to eurozone countries, where sterling is six per cent stronger, will have £28 more to spend.

Visitors to the Dominican Republic can enjoy about £45 more, while in Jamaica they can bag an extra £32.

The Post Office’s Nick Boden said: “Sterling being stronger against the vast majority of holiday currencies is great news for those going abroad.”
