Scots gear up for white Christmas as weather warning for snow is announced

Scots are gearing up for a white Christmas after a weather warning for snow and ice was announced.

Wintry showers are expected in the north of the country after the Met Office issued the yellow warning for snow and ice overnight and into Christmas Eve.

The warning is in place in the north of Scotland - including Aberdeen and Inverness - from 9pm tonight until 11am tomorrow, leaving hope the snow will stay for the big day.

The Met Office warn some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services.

They are expecting some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and they reckon there will be some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.
