Scots fugitive who 'may have fled to Spain' wanted for murder as Crimestoppers offer £10k reward

Police have launched a fresh appeal for information which could lead to the arrest of Scots fugitive Derek Ferguson.

The 58-year-old is wanted in connection with the murder of Thomas Cameron, which took place fifteen years ago today.

The dad-of-three was fatally shot in the Auchinairn Tavern car park in Bishopbriggs, near Glasgow, where he worked on June 28, 2007.

Detectives investigating the murder are renewing an appeal for information in a bid to track Ferguson down.

And Crimestoppers is offering a £10,000 reward to anyone with vital information which could lead to an arrest.

Officers leading the investigation understand the fugitive may be in Spain - and they believe he is unlikely to be known by his original name or speak with a Scottish accent.

Detective Chief Superintendent Paul Livingstone said: “Despite 15 years having past, Police Scotland’s investigation into the murder of Thomas Cameron in 2007 continues.

“Our extensive enquiries have never ceased, which underlines our unwavering commitment to tracking down Derek Ferguson.

“We are re-iterating our appeal for anyone who has any knowledge of his whereabouts to get in touch with any information which could help us trace him.

“I welcome the offer of the increased reward by Crimestoppers of up to £10,000 for information which leads to his arrest. If you know Derek Ferguson or have any information which will help us locate him, please come forward.

"Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could be of significant assistance. If you are unsure whether information you know will assist our enquiries, please just share it with us.

“If you don’t want to talk to my investigation team, you can speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

In May, we told how Spanish cops made Ferguson one of their ' most wanted targets '.

The missing murder suspect was named as the first person on Spain’s Most Wanted list.

A dedicated website giving members of the public access to a form to send information directly to the Police Scotland 's Inquiry Team has been set–up.

Those wishing to submit information can select to remain anonymous. The website can be found here.
