Scots forced to jump over fences to avoid being hit by car being 'chased by cops'

Locals were forced to jump over fences to avoid being hit by a car which was allegedly being chased by cops in Glasgow last weekend.

Police reportedly pursued a driver who failed to stop when asked to do so on the Kelvin Walkway at around 5.20pm on Friday.

It's claimed the car was being driven 'dangerously fast' causing pedestrians to take drastic action to avoid being hit, reports Glasgow Live.

Pictures from the scene show walkers standing on a muddy verge and on the opposite side of the railing while a car passes through a tight bridge on the walkway.

An eyewitness said the car was being chased by police but managed to evade officers. The police car then turned around and travelled in the opposite direction.

They said a helicopter was spotted in the area not long after.

Police are still searching for the driver who failed to stop for them on Hinshaw Street around 4.55pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing after driver failed to stop for officers when signalled on Hinshaw Street, Glasgow around 4.55pm on Friday, March 3.
