Scots football match halted by flying gazebo as high winds wreak havoc

A non-league football match in Ayrshire was halted after a section of gazebo blew onto the park.

The unlikely pitch invader struck 15 minutes into a league clash between Irvine Meadow and Auchinleck Talbot at wet and windy Meadow Park in Irvine this afternoon.

Referee Calum Haswell stopped play as Meadow co-boss Colin Spence and committee man Ross Weeks ran on to clear the pitch.

The interruption came with Meadow leading 1-0 thanks to an early Mick Wardrope header.

But Talbot stormed back to win the West of Scotland League Premier Division encounter 5-1 thanks to goals from Bryan Boylan (2), Mark Shankland Aiden Wilson and Graham Wilson.
