Scots firefighter's English colleagues pay tribute to his mum after he missed funeral due to lockdown

A Scots fire fighter who wasn't allowed to attend his mums funeral was blown away by colleagues touching gesture.

Aggie Dennis was heartbroken after strict Covid-19 restrictions in April meant he couldn't travel to Wiltshire, South-West England and say goodbye himself.

But bighearted crews at Trowbridge Fire Statio n stepped in and paid respects to the beloved mother, Betty Dennis, on his behalf.

They stood to attention and bowed their heads in respect to mark her final journey on May 11.

The emotional moment 'meant the world' to the Tarbert firefighter after being arranged by his daughter Rowena.

She had contacted Crew Manager Paul Beety at Trowbridge and organised the touching tribute.

Aggie, a Watch Commander at Tarbert in Argyle and Bute, said: “I’m indebted to Trowbridge fire station for giving my mum the send-off I couldn’t.

“Once again, the fire service family has come together when they were needed most.

“I look forward to visiting the station myself when I can, to thank the team in person, what they did may seem minor to some, but it meant the world to me.”
