Scots film maker creates incredible video showing 100 top Scottish landmarks - how many have you visited?

A Scots film maker has created an incredible video showing 100 of Scotland's most popular landmarks and asking people how many of them they have visited.

The award-winning film maker has created the clip from shots drawn from three of his previous aerial films around Scotland - explaining that it was "amazing looking back at all the spots" he'd been to.

His short films Ancient Scotland, Wild Scotland and Beautiful Scotland - showcasing Scottish landscapes - received three coveted Vimeo staff picks, gathering over 2 million views worldwide.

He went on to pick up the 2016 Landscape Award at the New York City Drone Film Festival. Wild Scotland was also Featured on  National Geographics Short Film showcase.

The three minute twenty clip features incredible shots of well known landmarks like the Wallace Monument in Stirling, Tobermory on the Isle of Mull and The Quiraing on Skye.

John has also included a large number of those stunning hidden gems that many Scots might not be aware of, such as Castle Tioram in Lochaber, Muckle Flugga and the world's oldest surviving sea-washed lighthouse Bell Rock.

John said: "I've made several edits around Scotland in the past. A combination of both personal projects and paid work.

"During lockdown I had time on my hands to collate everything and put it into a 100 places to visit style video."

The expert cameraman explained that the reaction to his video has been "pretty incredible", he said: "When I first uploaded it to Facebook people instantly started tagging friends which was amazing to see.

"I think it worked well timing wise as lots of people will be keen to get out and about again when lockdown finishes."

When asked which of the landmarks featured was his personal favourite, John responded: "Definitely St Kilda, as it was a total mission getting out there, but it looks so dramatic that it was worth the effort!"

Posting about the clip on Youtube fan WeeManWanders wrote: "Fantastic film! It's easy to forget how rich in beauty Scotland is when you live there. I need to remember to never take it for granted."
