Scots family say Royal Mail ignored complaints over 'knackered' postman who refused to help fallen pensioner

The family of a pensioner who was left sprawling in her driveway by a postman say Royal Mail chiefs have ignored their complaints.

Footage last week showed a Royal Mail postie refusing to help Patricia Stewart, 72, who had fallen outside her home near Falkirk in sub-zero temperatures

Patricia, who suffers from bone disease, was rescued 20 minutes later by another delivery driver.

The callous postman – who told frail Patricia he was “too knackered” to help – is understood to have been off work since the incident, which was caught on a neighbour’s door security camera.

Patricia’s niece, Sheryl Harkins, said: “A Royal Mail manager came to deliver a box of chocolates but didn’t explain what is going to happen to the postman.

“He doesn’t normally do this route and we have been told he’s been off since on the sick. We are determined to get answers over this.

"It isn’t good enough.”

Sheryl says she has written to Royal Mail chiefs to find out what they will do.

Royal Mail earlier said they have launched an investigation. They did not respond for a comment.
