Scots family's dream holiday to Spain turned into trip from hell due to flooding chaos

A Scots family’s dream break turned into a trip from hell after “apocalyptic” flooding wreaked havoc in Spain.

Taxi driver was shocked by the devastation as torrential rain, lightning storms and flash flooding caused chaos across south-eastern leaving his resort in ruins.

David’s apartment flooded during the storms and he and his mum Mary captured shocking scenes – including collapsed bridges, cars washed away and ruined motorways – in , near .

He said: “It is the worst rain and stormy weather I have ever seen. It was apocalyptic, it felt like the end of the world.”

On Friday, four people were rescued by lifeboat and jetski from a motorway tunnel in Pilar de la Horadada.

Six people were killed in the “gota fria” storms in Valencia, Murcia and eastern Andalucia as floods swept away cars and debris.

David, 48, from Glasgow, said: “We could have had it far worse.”
