Scots family cat hung from fence in sick killing as mum and kids distraught

Police are investigating after a family cat was found hanging from a fence in Dalkeith.

Owner Gillian Devlin was horrified after a neighbour found her beloved cat, named Loki, deliberately hung from a fence near Cowden Park.

It is understood the neighbour had been walking her dog when she made the grim discovery, reports Edinburgh Live.

The shaken woman took Loki down from the fence but the feline was already dead.

Gillian said she has been 'destroyed' by the news and her children have been left sick.

Gillian said little Loki was just two-years-old and is desperate for police to hunt the heartless person behind the sick attack.

She told Edinburgh Live : “I’m devastated and so are my son and daughters and family are sick with it.

“She was a wee quiet cat and for someone to hang her from a fence and leave her to die is unbelievable.

“I’m destroyed that this happened to my cat.”

Cops say they are investigating the incident which is understood to have occurred sometime between Monday, June, 14 and Thursday, June, 17.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers in Dalkeith are investigating the death of a cat found in the Woodburn Street area, which is believed to have happened between Monday, 14 June, and Thursday, 17 June. Enquiries are ongoing.”
