Scots driver writes off car in horror crash before testing positive for drugs

A Scots drug-driver was snared after writing his car off in a horror crash in Fife.

The motorist destroyed his vehicle in the smash near Thorton late on Saturday night.

The driver was lucky to escape with no serious injuries but the crash sparked a call to the Road Policing Scotland unit.

Images of the wreckage show the windscreen caved in, and the passenger side front wheel missing from the car.

But after officers arrived the driver was swabbed and tested positive for drugs.

The Road Policing Scotland unit said: "Another busy night at Fife Road Police. We attended a crash near Thornton earlier.

"Amazingly no serious injuries but the driver gave a positive drug wipe. Then his lift gave a positive drug wipe."

Police revealed it was the third driver caught under the influence of drugs in just one night.

"That’s the 3rd tonight If convicted of Drug Driving you could lose your licence."
