Scots driver hit with double fine after attempting to drive to England to buy puppy

Police issued a double fine to a motorist who was driving from Edinburgh to Wigan to buy a puppy.

Cops pulled the driver over at Junction 36 in Cumbria while trying to make the 203-mile journey despite strict lockdown restrictions.

They were initially slapped with a fine, but then went caught 10 minutes later trying to ignore instructions to return home, so officers issued a second penalty.

The dopey driver was then escorted back up north.

Tweeting the incident, Cumbria Police said: "Driver stopped at Junction 36 travelling from Edinburgh to Wigan to buy a puppy!

"The driver was issued a fine, however 10 minutes later they ignored the instruction to return back home and was issued a second fine before being escorted back up north."
