Scots driver captures 'mental' dashcam video of snow blizzard on A9

A Scots driver captured a 'mental' snow blizzard on the A9 that caused traffic chaos for drivers.

Alan Bowstead got caught up in the crazy conditions on the trunk road while out driving for work on Thursday morning.

The 44-year-old engineer from Alloa claims he spotted over 50 vehicles stuck in the heavy snow.

But luckily he was prepared with snow tyres and managed to keep moving along the road.

Alan captured footage of the adverse weather conditions from his dash cam at 11am between Inverness and Aviemore.

It comes after 'blizzard conditions ' forced the Met Office to issue an amber weather warning for Scotland till midnight tonight.

Forecasters predicted 12 inches of snow to fall along with strong winds in the East and Southern regions of Scotland.

Alan told the Record: "I was only one of two vehicles still moving.

"I saw over 50 vehicles stuck and even saw a gritter pulling a truck up the hill."

Scots locked down in their homes were stunned by the footage.

One person said: "No thank you, you're brave that gives me the fear."

A second person said: "Beautiful but no way, I wouldn’t make it 10 feet."

A third person said: "Be careful!"

A fourth person said: "God love the snow, but wouldn't want to drive on that."
