Scots Drag Race UK star Lawrence Chaney has sparked hilarity with an uncanny impression of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

The Glasgow drag queen is hotly tipped to win the competition and is a fan favourite thanks to a wicked sense of humour and incredible Scotland-themed runway looks.

The Scot was saved from elimination on Thursday's show after his Snatch Game performance fell flat, with viewers disappointed he chose to impersonate actress Miriam Margolyes instead of a Scottish icon.

But Lawrence has since delighted fans after doing an incredible impersonation of Scotland's First Minister.

Taking to Instagram live, the drag queen copied the politician's mannerisms - including a sharp intake of breath and hand movements - as he pretended to do a Covid-19 briefing.

"During lockdown, we are trying to suppress Covid-19," he says, before spluttering and bursting into laughter.

It comes after had to fight for her place in the competition after failing to impress the judges with her Snatch Game attempt.

The Scots queen chose to impersonate Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes in the challenge - but judges complained her decision fell flat as she 'missed a trick'.

Fans even took to social media to as why she failed to dress up as a Scottish icon, with some suggesting Nicola Sturgeon, Lewis Capaldi or Michelle McManus.

During the emotional episode, the Scots queen broke down in tears as she revealed she had used humour to cope with bullying as a 'bigger kid'.

Following the judges' critique, Lawrence said: "I'm very emotional. When I was younger, a bigger kid, I was made fun of for everything under the sun. Kids are a*******s.

"Being funny was the only thing I could punch back at people with.

"You get so annoyed when you're meant to be good at something and it isn't going your way."

Following the tense elimination, fans were relieved Lawrence Chaney was saved, with some saying it was 'traumatic'.
