Scots Drag Race star Lawrence Chaney supports Nathan Evans' Sea Shanty in race to number one

Scots Drag Race star Lawrence Chaney has supported Nathan Evans in his race to number one as his two versions of Wellerman go top five on iTunes.

Lawrence, who disappeared off Twitter after being trolled last week, still has her Instagram and Twitter accounts and couldn't resist backing the Sea Shanty musician.

Wearing her buoyant bright orange costume she enthused: "Alright lads. Listen it's me Lawrence Chaney and I'm on a mission to get my fellow Scot Nathan Evans top of the charts with his song Wellerman."

Nathan said: "Wow, this is absolutely incredible, thank you so much."

Nathan went live today and told fans he was so close to the number one slot with the remix of the track currently at number one and the original version at number four in the iTunes charts .

He said: "I'm actually sweating just thinking about it."

He also told fans that he can't dance at all saying: "All my talent has gone to music."

Now in its seventh week in the Top 3, Wellerman could finally claim the Number 1 spot on this week's Official Singles Chart.

The track is currently outperforming last week's chart-topper, Drivers License by Olivia Rodrigo, and three new entries from Drake.

Nathan said of his remix video with 220 KID and Billen Ted: "I had so much fun making this music video and I am so grateful to everyone who has supported me up to this point.

It is because of all of you guys that I am in this position and that I am able to be releasing this music video."

After signing a major label record deal following his viral success, Nathan talked of his hopes for an album.

He said: "I've got a few songs I've written and I know how I want them to sound, but if people wanted another shanty, or something along those lines, I'd be happy with that.

"If I know it's going to have the same effect as Wellerman and put a smile on peoples' faces, and everyone's going to join in a sing along, I'm in. Whatever makes people happy."

Nathan recently announced details of his 2021/2022 UK and European tour, which kicks off on December 1 in Dublin and comes to Glasgow's King Tuts on December 12 and 14.
