Scots Does It Fry star Dazza on Come Dine With Me but guests are not impressed

Does It Fry star Darren Dowling, also known as Dazza, has been appearing on Come Dine With Me this week and tonight it was his chance to impress his guests.

Since his speciality is deep-frying everything, Darren decided to serve up his guests a three course meal of deep fried treats but we're not sure it went down too well.

To start, funnyman Darren decided to serve up, 'Chicken à la Nuggets', which translates to homemade nuggets of chicken, deep fried in a crispy signature batter, served with deep-fried caviar.

For the main course, he decided to treat his guests to 'Lasagne di Fritte' which is home-baked layers of egg pasta, beef ragu, and creamy sauce, all encased and deep-fried in a signature batter, served on a bed of crispy lettuce.

And to round off his dinner party, it only made sense that a deep fried Mars Bar was plated up, which Darren named 'Scotland’s Finest', on his menu, accompanied by ice cream.

But it wasn't all plain sailing and the frying fanatic came across a few hurdles.

Robert wasn't impressed. (C4 Screengrab)

He said as soon as his guests realised they were eating everything deep fried, their 'faces dropped'.

And he was right in saying his guests weren't impressed as when Darren served up, Robert spat the starter out into a napkin. He said: "It was really salty and really chewy."

Speaking to The Record, Darren spoke of his experience, he said: "When they had the first deep dish of chicken nuggets and caviar, their faces dropped. I think they knew from that point they weren’t eating good food that night. The lasagna kinda worked, but the kitchen roll stuck to the bottom 100% lost me points. I know it was barely double digits."

Darren's full menu was definitely not something his guests had experienced before.

He then said things kept going wrong in the kitchen.

He said: "My ice cream scoop broke. So serving up that ice cream was an absolute riot. I also completely underestimated how much ingredients I’d need for 5 people. So I only brought 1 carrot for them all. I know for a fact Kasia got a Chinese on the way home!"

But Darren admitted that regardless of the score, he still had a great time.

He added: "I loved every second of it. I went there to have a laugh - I walked away laughing. I canny complain."

Darren knew that the food on his night wouldn't be to everyone's tastes and the scores reflected that.

At the end of the evening as Robert gave him a 3, Doreen kindly gave him a 4, Jen very generously gave him a 5 and Kasia scored him a 2 which gave him 14 points and overall last place.
