Scots documentary forms part of Macrobert centre's online programme

An aspiring film programmer from Airdrie is running a special online festival celebrating Scotland and its people.

Sam Bennett is a trainee with Macrobert arts centre in Stirling and is organising a trio of online events as part of an internship with Film Hub Scotland.

Her first is an online screening of documentary From Scotland With Love this Saturday, followed by a live question-and-answer session via Zoom with its award-winning director, Virginia Heath.

The BAFTA-nominated film weaves together archive footage with a soundtrack from Fife composer King Creosote; and is described as “a journey into our collective past”, where “ordinary people appear from the past to take a starring role”.

Sam said: “I’ve decided to focus on films celebrating Scotland and its people, the small towns and their communities included – and this focus fits perfectly with From Scotland With Love.

“Although cinema is back on the big screen at Macrobert, we’re continuing to explore the digital aspects of film programming and are exciting about this event.”

The documentary showing is at 7pm this Saturday, September 12, immediately followed by the director’s Zoom Q&A; tickets costing from £4.50 to £8.50 are available at macrobertartscentre.org.

Saturday’s screening will be closed-captioned and there will be a sign language interpreter for the question-and-answer session.
