A doctor has been struck off after she tried to import class A drugs into the UK – her third conviction.
Katy McAllister, who was once cleared of killing a friend by giving her powerful painkillers, had previous convictions for supplying diazepam and temazepam.
The mum of two had also admitted possession of magic mushrooms and been banned from the road while unfit through drink or drugs.
McAllister, 34, last September pleaded guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to trying to import oxycodone and morphine.
In that instance, she was duped by her supplier in India, who sent paracetamol, hay fever pills and ibuprofen instead.
At a Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service hearing this week, McAllister’s name was removed from the register after she was ruled unfit to practise.
The acute clinical care specialist had been suspended from her job for more than two-and-a-half years before the ruling.
At an earlier hearing, her barrister told the tribunal she had shown “significant insight” into her conduct and that there was “no issue” of having to protect the public.
In 2017, McAllister, from Dundee, admitted supplying a fellow doctor with diazepam, distributing temazepam and possessing magic mushrooms.
She was acquitted at the High Court in Edinburgh that year of causing the death of her friend Louise McGowan, in May 2015, by giving her tramadol, diazepam and temazepam.
In May last year, McAllister was convicted of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and without due care and attention. She was banned from the roads for 12 months.
