Scots DJ Will Atkinson is set to ditch the decks and jump on the clippers for a charity head shave this week.
The Glasgow DJ and producer is making a bid to raise thousands for Nordoff Robbins with an exclusive live streamed sponsored head shave, which he's dubbed 'The Last Shave on Earth'.
Will - whose debut album Last King of Scotland was released in November last year - has set out to raise cash for a charity close to his own heart.
Nordoff Robbins is the UK’s largest music therapy charity and strives to enrich people’s lives through music - including those facing life-limiting illnesses and disabilities.
The Orkney-born producer and former Radio 1 resident will also be donating his hair to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real-hair wigs for young cancer patients.
Will said: "After such a turbulent and disappointing year, I want to leave as much of that behind and kick start 2021 with some positivity.
"Music has pulled me through some of the toughest times in my life.
"There are so many amazing charities but the message of Nordoff Robbins resonates so strongly with me.
"Whether by enriching the life of someone fighting a life-threatening illness, helping someone through isolation - or even helping someone remember the first dance at their wedding. Where words fail, music speaks."
The live stream will broadcast from SWG3’s outdoor events space from 3pm on Sunday, January 31.
You can catch the action on Will's Facebook and YouTube pages.
Will's JustGiving page has already reached almost £3,000. To donate go to https://bit.ly/2LPAejZ.
Simon Foy, Event Manager at Nordoff Robbins said: "We're delighted to be partnering with Will on what is set to be a very special live stream.
"Music and people are at the heart of everything we do and we were impressed with Will’s shared passion for connecting with others via his prolific musical output and events."
