Scots delivery driver 'on edge' after mindless vandals smash car window in front of home

A Scots motorist has been left "on edge" after mindless yobs smashed his car window on his own doorstep.

Dean Laurie was at home in Dumfries just metres away when the senseless vandals targeted his vehicle.

The 32-year-old was alerted to the attack on Monday evening, February 15, after he heard a loud bang followed by his car alarm.

He ran to the door to find his Vauxhall Vectra Sri covered in shards of glass.

The furious pharmaceutical delivery driver then took to Facebook to appeal for information shortly after the attack.

He shared photos of the damage to his car and said: “Anybody seen two young boys running about King Street/Palmerston Park area.

“Wee b******s just put my car window in about an hour ago.

“The police have been involved but I haven't heard anything yet.

“If anyone has any idea who has done this I would appreciate it if you got in touch.”

He also revealed it was the second time he had been targeted in two years, after his wing mirror was also kicked off.

Dean told the Daily Record: “I heard the bang and then the car alarm go off.

“My mate up the stairs from me also heard it and he saw two young lads running away.

"They used half a slab and it bounced off the window and broke in two.

“This isn't the first time this has happened round my way.

“There has been a lot more going on.

"To be honest I don't like the fact I have my work van sitting outside now not knowing if it's safe or not.

"I'm constantly on edge.

"Every sound I hear outside I'm at my window making sure the van or the neighbour's cars are okay."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At 18:10 on Monday 15 February officers received a report of vandalism to a car.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
