Scots daredevil Kriss Kyle battles through broken ribs to complete 21 foot drop during stunt clip

A Scots stunt cyclist has battled through the pain of broken ribs to create an epic mountain bike clip for Red Bull.

Kriss Kyle, who was starring in his first-ever mountain bike edit with Red Bull, pulled off astonishing jumps and barely believable tricks in the clip, which shows why he is one of the best riders in the world.

The video, which premiered on Red Bull TV, is dubbed ‘Out Of Season’ and shows the Glasgow-based 29-year-old showcase a number of world first tricks down a unique custom-built track.

Starting with a 21-foot drop from the roof of a forest cabin, Kriss can be seen hurtling down hills and ramps while doing kicks and flips - despite suffering from an injury sustained falling from the 21-foot ramp featured at the very start of the video.

The five-minute clip shows of the range of skills and stunts Kriss has picked up in his 18 years of BMX riding and only unleashed across the MTB trails in the last two years.

Assisted by fellow Scot, Red Bull athlete and legendary trials rider Danny MacAskill, Kriss drew inspiration from previous hits such as Kaleidoscope and dropping out of a helicopter in Dubai, to combine traditional British winter trails with custom-built wooden features to create a "dream trail playground".

Kriss Kyle said: “It’s kind of crazy to think that I’ve gone from riding an MTB bike two years ago primarily to keep things fresh and fun, to now producing this amazing edit with Red Bull.

"It was really difficult taking tricks I could land easily on a BMX only to then do them up to 100 times on the trail bike which was heavier and harder to maneuver. It was almost like learning to ride all over again.

“The approach I took to preparing my body for this edit was like nothing I’ve done before. I knew my body would probably take more of a battering as I navigated tougher tricks with a heavier bike in muddy conditions.

"I think it ended up helping me get back on the bike quicker when I broke my rib as I was in such good fitness.

"I didn’t actually realise I’d broken my rib when I did it, all of the adrenaline was going and in all honesty it could have been a lot worse as I managed to miss several tree stumps.”
