Scots dad's fury as courier firm 'dumps fragile package in tatters outside his door in the rain'

A Scots dad has hit out at delivery giant Hermes after opening his door to discover a 'fragile' package left on his doorstep in tatters.

Craig Bradshaw, who lives in Girvan in Ayrshire, said his 'heart sank' when he saw the ripped and battered box.

The 55-year-old, whose dream is to be a photographer, had ordered delicate picture frames as backdrops for his snaps but was stunned to see the state they arrived in.

Despite the fragile warning tape and wire wrapped around the box the package was badly bashed and ripped.

Craig also claims the courier dumped the items outside his home in the rain without even ringing the doorbell.

He said: "My heart sank when I saw it.

"I've had issues with Hermes before, but this is just the worst.

"Now, I can’t imagine what might have happened en-route, or what sort of doomsday scenario the carrier might have faced on the way, but it has arrived looking like this.

"Perhaps the Kraken awoke and attacked?

"Maybe Krakatoa had one last hurrah on the M6?"

"The driver dropped it off at my flat and left it outside in the rain.

"They did not knock or ring the bell - that says a lot.

"I only knew it had been delivered an hour later when I checked my emails."

Craig is unaware of the full extent of damage on his order after refusing to open the package up.

He claims the package was delivered on Monday after being posted last Tuesday, after he had paid an extra £11 paid for 48 hour delivery.

He has now contacted the company in a desperate bid for answers.

He said: "I have emailed the CEO of Hermes with pictures - I have not had the courtesy of an acknowledgement, or a reply.

"I've now got to the stage that if I order goods and see that the courier is Hermes, I cancel the order.

"It really isn't worth the grief.

"This is the fifth time Hermes has let me down."

A Hermes spokesperson said: "We have apologised to the recipient of the parcel and our team is investigating how the damage occurred.

"We will be providing full compensation."
