Scots dad hailed 'a legend' for three-hour round trip to give isolating son Christmas dinner

A doting dad made a three-hour round trip across Scotland to ensure his son had the perfect Christmas dinner.

Callum Bell and his fiancé had to isolate at their home in Glasgow due to Covid-19 rules.

Their isolation meant they were unable to spend Christmas Day with their families.

But Callum's dad went the extra mile - about 160 of them in fact - to make sure the couple ate in style, driving from Dundee to deliver their dinner.

Their parcel included perfect portions of each course, and drinks, and was accompanied with instructions so nothing could go wrong.

Callum told the Daily Record : "I'd initially told him not to bother because it's a three-hour drive just to drop some food off but he was having none of it.

"He genuinely always does things like this for me and others, he's a brilliant man.

"It was our first Christmas with his new granddaughter, my niece, baby Maggie, so as much as I was gutted not to spend it with her and the family I'm delighted he got to enjoy it with them.

"And his delivery made the day really special for me and my fiancé given the circumstances."

Callum, a Senior Producer with football radio show Clyde Supercscoreboard, spoke to the Record after initially revealing the heartwarming story on Twitter.

He Tweeted: "Stuck in the flat for Christmas and my dad drives through from Dundee with the whole Xmas dinner (with instructions cos I’m an idiot).

"What an incredible man, very lucky to have him."

The tweet was liked over 10,000 times, as users heaped praise on Callum's dad.

Ali Wright wrote: "What a man indeed! My Dad can't even perfect an oven meal let alone this feast! #topda "

Colin Reid said: "This is amazing! What a legend your dad is.

"Hope you two still managed to have a great Christmas, all things considered."

And Nicola posted: "What a great dad! Loved the instructions!"
