Scots cyclist hailed as 'wonderful husband and father' after tragic roads death

A Scots cyclist has been hailed as a 'wonderful husband and father' after he died in a roads tragedy.

Kevin Young was killed when he became unwell when out on his bike on the B9199 near Lumphanan, Aberdeenshire on Friday.

We told how the 60-year-old was found unwell by the side of the road at around 11.25am.

Emergency services raced to the scene but could not save Kevin.

Police Scotland cordoned off the stretch of road as they carried out a full investigation

Now a statement has been released by Kevin's family through the police where they thanked drivers who stopped to help.

His family said: “Kevin was a wonderful husband and father with a passion for cycling. We shall miss him forever.

"Many thanks to all the motorists who stopped to help him, the Torphins Practice GPs, ambulance crew and ARI trauma team. We are so grateful for their efforts.”
