A male cyclist has tragically died after allegedly being knocked down by a car on the A814 in Dunbartonshire.
Emergency services were called to the scene near Cardross at around 4.45pm on Tuesday after the collision involving a Volkswagen Golf.
Medics battled to save the 40-year-old bike rider but he was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The road remained closed for several hours to allow for accident investigation work.
Police Scotland confirmed that a 44-year-old has since been arrested and charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, November 11.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 4:45pm, police received a report of a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a Volkswagen Golf on the A814, half a mile west of Cardross.
"Emergency services attended; however, the 40-year-old male cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The road was closed for several hours while crash investigators conducted enquiries.
"A 44-year-old was arrested and charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences.
"He is due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, November 11."
